Saving Scraps of Felt

Do you ever make felt using roving and then have some leftover felt
trimmings? I do and I really hated to mess that I had as I tried to
save the trimmings for another project. I solved my problem by using
a piece of Vilene stabilizer.

Now, I keep a piece of Vilene and I felt all of the trimmings on to
the Vilene. Doing this lets me form a larger piece of felts because
I can felt all of the trimmings into one piece. Or, I can just felt
them randomly on the piece of Vilene and when the sheet of Vilene is
full, I have a great spotted and speckled background felt sheet. So,
now, instead of a bag of little scraps of this and that, I have a
couple of sheets of Vilene that are tacked to my bulletin board and
are always ready for cleanup.

When you are ready to use the felt, you can either wash the Vilene
out of the entire sheet or just cut off the part that you need for
your project. Also, consider combining threads, yarns, etc with your
felted scraps for even more options.
