We carry a variety of Roving suitable for felting or spinning.

Merino roving makes a felt that is both soft and strong. It can be used for both wet felting and needle felting, by hand or machine.
Colonial roving is a bit coarser than the merino, but is still soft enough that you could wear it next to your skin. Colonial (also called Corriedale) can be used for wet felting and needle felting by hand and machine.
Hand-dyed (or Hand Painted) roving, either Merino or Colonial is roving that contains a number of colors. Using hand-dyed roving is an easy way to add depth to the look of your project. Most of our roving is dyed in 2-4 ounce quantities, but we dye at least 2 days a week, so if we are out of stock of a colorway, just let us know and we will dye so you can buy.
Multi-color roving is made by dyeing the roving and then recarding and recombing the roving so that strands of wool of different colors are aligned. Multi-color roving can also result in added depth to the look of your project, but in a more subtle way than with hand-dyed roving.
In my experience, using a high quality merino roving allows you to better blend the colors of the roving.
Although we sell our roving by weight, we are occasionally asked how long one ounce of roving is. One ounce of roving will be approximately 60 inches in length. The length will sometimes vary from color to color, but this is a good estimate for planning purposes. We do actually weigh our roving to make sure that you are getting good value for your money. I hate to buy products based on the size of the package (since I can't see how tightly the package is packed) or by roving length (since the thickness of the roving can vary greatly.) Not all retailers want you to be able to do price comparisons, but we will do everything that we can to help you to get the best deal for your money.
