Silk HankiesSilk Hankies are made by hand opening a cocoon and stretching it to make it into a 10" by 10" square. They are thicker at the edges and almost transparent in the centers. Silk hankies are often used for spinning, but they work very well in felting too. You can stretch the edges to make them larger or you and make them into other shapes to create hills and valleys in your felting. I often turn to silk hankies when I am creating a 2 dimensional flower because I can use the edges to create very interesting edges for the flower petals and leaves.
