Friends' Gallery

I have made lots of friends since I have opened this site.  Many have been kind enough to share photos of their projects with me and to allow me to share them with you.  I am amazed by the wonderful work that they have done.  So, I am posting photos and links that I hope will give you lots of new ideas and inspiration.

Joan Brattlof

Joan used her Embellisher to felt the background in both these pieces using roving.  In the first picture, the window frame, sailboat and basket of flowers are machine embroidery which was applied after she competed the felted background.  In the second picture, the background was felted, as was the vase.  The vase was cut from a piece of felt made with the Embellisher prior to being attached.  The lilies are machine embroidered.  The detail on Joan's bird is awesome.  Click on the thumbnail for a closer look.

Nikki

Nikki likes using her Embellisher to texturize cotton lame (also called quilter's lame, Shimmer, and Echo.)  It is a lame made with 50% or more of cotton and the remainder of nylon or metallic threads.  Use size 40 needles or larger with cotton lame.   You get no result with a size 42 needle...except a few holes.  You can also get a similar effect using china silk (8mm), but I only do this with a size 42 needle.  (I broke too many size 40 needles because of the tight weave of the china silk.)

Julie Otte

The dimension in this wall hanging is awesome.  Julie started with the green and white background and then got stuck.  A few days later, she laid
a silk calla lily on the background and decided that was what this piece needed.  So, she disassembled the calla lily and used its pieces as a pattern for her
lilies.  I think this work is awesome.

Marie Johansen

Marie likes to make cell phone cases.  How could you ever lose your cell phone with a case like this?  So Fun!!

Laurie Wright

Laurie makes fabulous landscapes and seascapes.  I will try to keep adding more of her artwork to my friends' gallery.  If you are interested
in purchasing Laurie's work, you can contact her at doodle4dezines@yahoo.com.

Olga Schrichte

Olga's bowl (left photo) was made using roving, yarns and fabric.  It was free motion stitched.  Olga used Vilene as her stabilizer and loved how it helped her bowl maintain its shape.  The photo on the right is her fish.  Just awesome.  For more tips on using Vilene, click here.
