For those of you who have been using Christopher
Nejman's Book Pillows with your needle punching machine, you know that he uses
LOTS of different colors of metallic and other fancy embroidery threads on his
pillows. If you happen to have lots of threads on hand, then that is not
big a deal. But, if you don't have a great variety, you might just find
that purchasing a wide variety of colors and textures of threads may be cost
prohibitive. Recently, when I was looking into embroidery thread kits, I
stumbled on a fabulous find that is very reasonably priced for those who want to
have a wide variety of choices without spending a small fortune. The kits
are made by Madeira (a fabulous name in Embroidery Thread) and have a large
number of spools with only 50 meters (about 44 yards) of each color. This
is a great way to try out these threads and to have a great selection of colors
to choose from at a relatively low cost.
There are three kits available. The first kit contains 24 spools of
Madeira Supertwist thread in a hinged box. Some of the threads are variegated
and some are a single color. All of the threads have texture to them
because they are made with both polyester and metallic threads that have been
twisted together. I love using these threads when I am doing free motion
embroidery because my sewing/embroidery machine just loves them. And, they
give me a fabulous texture in addition to the flash from the metallic thread.
The photos don't show all 24 colors, but you should have a good idea of what
is in the package. I really love these threads. I hope you will too.
